There’s a new supermarket chain coming to the highstreet – ASCO.

Despite the fact it is selling predominately English produce from as far as I can tell exclusively English shops, straight away they’ve gone for the establishment line of promoting it’s British credentials.

Sadly the fairlags project has to be put on hold for the foreseeable near future. Neither the Secret Person or myself have the necessary time that the project needs to succeed.

A definite mistake on our part in that neither of us foresaw the time demands involved.

I’ll leave the site up in the hope that someone will volunteer to help take it forward – anyone interested please get in touch: secretary(at)fairflags.org.uk.

Thanks to everyone who commented.

Apologies for the downtime over the week-end. Moving the site was more problematic than it should have been – a case of operator error!

Anyway we’re up and running again. But we need ideas and contributions to keep going – no don’t reach for your wallet! What we need are blog posts and ideas to take the campaign forward.

If anyone would like to make a regular contribution then I can give you full blog access and a fairflags email address. Please email me secretary(at)fairflags.org.uk if this is of interest.

Oh and a belated happy new year to all our readers.

They could well be right.

I noticed this morning that Waitrose have a forum on their website.

Shopping at Waitrose only happens for special occasions for my family but from the Fair Flags perspective they look pretty good. Not so much in the showing flags but for clearly identifying the origin of food. They’re not perfect but look about the best to me.

Anyway I think it’s a great idea for a supermarket to have a forumĀ  but it’’s a shame that the worst offenders don’t have one.
